Purpose and rationale of the program:
These programs, which have been institutionalised abroad for many years under the name of ‘fellowship’, are given on top of clinical specialty training in neurological sciences. They aim to develop knowledge and skills in areas that require specialised and advanced training in clinical and applied basic sciences. The aim of the programs is not to provide a subspecialty (e.g. gastroenterology) diploma, but to provide academic development in specialised areas of neurological sciences for candidates who already have a specialty degree. Rapid developments in neurological sciences have led to a demand for specialists who can closely follow and apply these innovations. These services are still tried to be carried out by the staff who receive education from abroad, but since they are not in sufficient number, they cannot meet the needs of our country.

Opened programs:
Brain Vascular Diseases
Behavioural Neurology
Movement Disorders
Neuroimmunology
Spinal Surgery
Neuromuscular Diseases

These are disciplines with an intensive patient potential, rapidly developing in diagnosis and treatment, requiring the use of new tests and an interdisciplinary approach.
For each of these programmes, equivalent ‘fellowship’ training is available abroad. The rich faculty of our institute with experience in interdisciplinary education provides an ideal infrastructure for the creation of these post-specialty programs covering subjects that require the cooperation of different disciplines.
