In the last twenty years, important advances have been made in elucidating the biological mechanisms of psychiatric diseases and their treatment methods. Studies performed at the cellular and molecular levels in animal models have formed the foundation of basic psychiatric science. The Brain Research Laboratory in the institute offers psychiatrists the opportunity to work in this area. Projects using animal models to investigate the effects of psychiatric treatments on the brain are ongoing.
