This group maintains its clinical service, clinical and experimental activities relating to movement disorders and aims to complete its structural organization primarily with the participation of researchers from the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Radiology. Comprehensive electrophysiological investigations into the pathophysiology of movement disorders (including micro-recording studies during functional surgery) and studies at the cellular and molecular level in experimental Parkinsonism and dyskinesia models are carried out by the members of this group. There are plans in place to develop this work further. Genetic studies on movement disorders, which are maintained with limited means at present, will be developed through national study groups, established in collaboration with other movement disorder centers around the country. It is the aim of this group to transform these studies into large scale international projects.
